How Cold is Your House

This is an ongoing debate in my house...one that has picked up since we had kids. Every winter, the hubby and I, agressively discuss how cold/hot the house should be. He would prefer no heat at all. I have to hear the story every time about how he had no heat and A/C growing up in Texas. It's like listening to "back in my day....." So we DO have heat and A/C and I don't like it hot, but I don't like to freeze.

We thought we might remedy this situation by getting new windows. Nope, that's not going to happen. So our house remains freezing, especially the kids room which are drafty and don't get sun at all during the winter days.

How cold is your house in the winter?

We're always complaining about how cold our house is! Old windows of course - probably the same ones you have (since we basically have the same house).

But I am definitely the one to say "it's freezing in here," and get the response, "it's 70 - how could it be freezing?" I go to bed in layers. I think I was meant to live in a warmer climate...

My house is freezing! Some afternoons I wear a scarf and mittens to sit in the living room. Even though we have "newer" windows there is still a draft.

In our sunny CA abode apparently is in a climate vortex where 'freezing' occurs at 63 F. we put on beanies.

We have the same debate in our house. It helped when hubby was working at home in the frigid basement, then he finally wanted it a little warmer. I let him set the temp and then I adjust it after he's gone to work. ;-) I'm the one who has to live here all day!

i'm usually cold, but i don't think we should have to be freezing if we don't have to. if i'm uncomfortable temperature-wise it affects what i'm doing, how well i focus, etc. so i'm all for being comfortable.

We keep the heat @ 68 during the day and 65 @ night. I just put on the heat about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I hate the heat, but DH would like it warmer. 68 is my compromise!

Well my thermostat says 68, but that is not the case in all rooms! Despite new windows, our house is cold, and due to the gaping hole in the basement, and soon to be in the family room, we will be wearing parkas indoors. Really, as I type, my nose and toes have no feeling!! But I hate being hot, and since most of day is spent MOVING rather than sitting the temp is fine. And at night, I cuddle under a blanket:)
